Lace industry is one of economic generators in Tasikmalaya. In addition of labour intensive industry, it is also one of the income sources and contributes the Local Government Income significantly. In Tasikmalaya there are about 2.708 units of embroidery industries from small to medium scale and absorbed as much as 31.765 workers. Embroidery Center Industry spread out in 24 villages and 12 districts.

The main product of embroidery is clothes, especially Moslem clothing, for women and men. The demand of embroidery products such as Moslem clothing have peak seasons when facing Moslem holy days Idul Fitri and Idul Adha. Another demands such as for louvers, bed covers, homedecoration, etc is relatively stable and not influenced by Moslem holy days.

The sales volume of Tasikmalaya embroidery predicted IDR 600 billion per year, while the export value reach US$ 15,2 million per year.

Tasikmalaya embroidery product has been well known in Indonesia and even in foreign countries. Lace products beside Tasikmalaya is also marketed to other regions in Indonesia such Bandung, Tanah Abang Market Jakarta, Tegal Gubug Market Cirebon, Klewer Market Solo, Central Java, Batam Island, Ujung Pandang, Pontianak, Balik Papan, Medan, Bali, Manado etc. This embroidery products also break through the export market.

The countries which become the market target of Tasikmalaya embroidery such as Malaysia, Singapore, Canada, United Nation of America, Brunei Darussalam, Egypt, Uni Arab Emirates and many countries in Middle East, Australia, France, New Zealand, England, Germany. The extention of embroidery market is because of the cheap price supported by good quality.
